01 / WHAT WE CAN WORK ON

Your process.
A part made for it.

From positioning a component to guiding a repeatable task, start with the problem your team needs to solve.

Custom jigs

Discuss guides and templates for repeatable placement, marking, and alignment.

Custom fixtures

Explore part holders, assembly nests, and positioning aids built around your workpiece.

Functional parts

Bring an idea for a purpose-built adapter, attachment, or practical shop accessory.

02 / 3D SCANNING & PART RECREATION

Start with a part.
Explore what's next.

An existing component. A new design direction. A part you can no longer buy.

Using our Revopoint MetroX Pro, we scan existing components as digital reference for product development, prototyping, and part recreation. Scan data can inform design work; the right next step depends on your project.

We must physically receive your original part to perform a 3D scan. Photos help us assess the project initially, but cannot replace the physical part. Contact us and receive project acceptance and shipping arrangements before sending anything.

From assessment to an agreed deliverable

  1. 01

    Request assessment and acceptance

Send photos, approximate dimensions, intended use, and critical fit requirements. Photos are for initial assessment only. Wait for project acceptance and agreed shipping arrangements before sending the original.

  2. 02

    Receive and assess the original

We must physically receive the original part before scanning. Review its wear, damage, surface finish, accessible features, and any preparation or additional measurements needed.

  3. 03

    Scan and review

Capture accessible surfaces with the MetroX Pro and review the data for gaps. Critical dimensions and mating features need project-specific measurement and checks.

  4. 04

    Deliver the agreed reference

Confirm the file format and intended use. Any further modeling, prototype, material selection, or fit testing is a separate scope to review, not an automatic result of scanning.

Feasibility and dimensional requirements are reviewed for each project. A scan alone does not establish finished-part fit or performance.

EXISTING-PART DIGITIZATION

What could you bring us?

These are examples to discuss, not a catalog of completed scans. Suitability depends on the actual part and its intended use.

01

Automotive trim & housings

Interior trim pieces, bezels, covers, and plastic housings can be starting points for documenting external shape. Identify mounting tabs, mating edges, and exposure to heat or wear when you inquire.

02

Discontinued everyday parts

Knobs, caps, handles, and non-structural covers may provide useful reference for a replacement project. A scan records the part as it is; worn or missing geometry needs separate assessment.

03

Product & workshop development

Use an existing component's shape to discuss an enclosure, fixture, adapter, or prototype. Share the surrounding assembly and how the proposed part should interact with it.

DEFINE THE OUTPUT

A scan, a CAD model, and a finished part are different things.

Scan data / mesh

A digital representation of captured surface geometry. It can provide reference for comparison, visualization, or later design work. Coverage, cleanup, file format, and intended use are agreed for the project.

CAD reconstruction

An editable CAD model requires additional interpretation and modeling. It is not automatically created by a scan or included in a scanning inquiry. If you need CAD, tell us your software and goals so we can review the scope and feasibility before making a commitment.

Prototype / finished part

Producing a part adds design decisions, material and process selection, and checks for its use. A scan does not establish a finished-part tolerance, guaranteed fit, or certified inspection result.

HELP US REVIEW YOUR PROJECT

What to send with your inquiry

  • Clear photos from several angles, including damage and hidden or recessed areas.
  • Approximate length, width, and height, plus any dimensions you already know.
  • Critical fit features: holes, clips, mating faces, threads, and the components they connect to.
  • Intended use and desired output: digital reference, a modeling discussion, or a potential prototype.
  • Quantity, timing, and whether the original can be shipped or needs to be returned promptly.

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

Scanning questions

Do I need a CAD file or technical drawing?

No CAD file is needed for an initial inquiry. Photos, approximate dimensions, and an explanation of the part's job help us review it. Existing drawings or measurements are useful if you have them.

Do you need to receive my original part?

Yes. GCS must physically receive the original part to perform a 3D scan. Photos support initial assessment only and cannot replace the physical part.

Should I mail the part straight away?

No. Contact us first and wait for project acceptance and agreed shipping arrangements. We'll discuss scope, price, timing, and arrangements for the original, including return shipping, before you send it.

How much does scanning cost, and how long does it take?

Size, surface condition, access, preparation, required checks, and the agreed output affect the work. Include your target date in the inquiry so pricing and timing can be reviewed for your project.

04 / MATERIALS & FINISHING

The right material.
The right finish.

Material choice and surface finish are part of the design, shaped around how your part will look, fit, and work.

01

Materials chosen for the job

High-quality engineering materials selected for the application, considering strength, stiffness, temperature, wear, and the working environment.

02

A smooth, considered finish

Surface preparation and finishing tailored to the part, with attention to a smooth feel, clean appearance, and the dimensions that matter for fit.

03

Custom coatings

Discuss a coating and color to suit your part’s appearance and intended use. The coating process is chosen around the base material, surface finish, and fit requirements.

Material and finishing options are reviewed for each project and agreed before work begins.

05 / LET’S BUILD A BETTER FIT

What can we
make for you?

Tell us about your custom project or an old part you need to replace. For part recreation, include its approximate size, what it is used for, and whether it is damaged. You don’t need a finished design to get started.
